History
The third generation of Commandeurs is running one of the oldest sheep farms in Holland. They have helped determine the development of the present Texel population. Development, muscle, fertility, easy lambing, rapid growth and type have been our guiding principles.

The farm produced many preferent, primed rams and champions at shows. We mainly use rams we have bred ourselves (85%). A number of these rams is leased out to anyone interested during the tupping season!

Farm particulars
30 acres of sandy soil, on which 100 older breeding ewes, 50 ewe lambs and about 15 rams are usually kept. Average litter size is 1.9 lambs over many years! The breeding ewes average 88 points in the herdbook.

Breeding aim

Well-developed, fertile, easy lambers which can suckle two lambs and live long, like primed mothers.

03938 - 934 gave birth to 28 lambs in ten litters
03938 - 1382 gave birth to 20 lambs in six litters
03938 - 1470 gave birth to 23 lambs in ten litters

Our population numbers many of their offspring, both male and female. Ewes and rams may look good, but they have to perform as well!

Health status
Maedi-Visna accredited and scrapie monitored. Many ewes and rams have ARR-ARR status.

Visit
You can visit our farm all the year round, and breeding rams, ewes and lambs are always for sale. Please let us know beforehand if you intend to visit, since there is considerable public interest in our farm. You are always very welcome!
