Texel, Dick Kikkert and sheep are one

Welcome to our site. As you know, we have been breeding cows and sheep for years. Now the dairy cows have been hived off, we continue with sheep, young cattle and recreation.

What you take in with your mother's milk, will always stay in. We enjoy the ever-changing challenges of sheep breeding very much.

Our farm covers 98 acres, most of which is pasture-land. We meets all the requirements for good health, since our flock is Maedi-Visna accredited and monitored for scrapie.

Since we want to include the growth index in our breeding aim, we have joined a weighing programme. We aim to breed a functional sheep with good development and muscle.

We participate in the following shows: Landbouwdag Den Hoorn, Opmeer, Den Burg, the elite sale in Purmerend and Alkmaar. In winter we naturally participate in the winter show on Texel as well.

In the year 2000 we achieved the following successes:

Ram lamb 4031-2184 In the top ten in Opmeer and Texel and among the best five of Den Hoorn.
Ewe 4031-2035, Father 4030-2394 Sold through the elite sale in Purmerend, exported to England.
Ewe 4031-2035, Father 4030-2394 As a one and a half year old with two lambs she was 1A in Den Hoorn, Opmeer, Den Burg and Alkmaar. 4031-1217 is the grandmother of both 2031 and 2035.

In 2000, we have used rams 4030-2782, 3230-1118, 4031-2103 and especially 4031-2184. General appearance 88, litter size index 104 with ARR-ARR.

You are welcome to visit our farm and meet our sheep and rams. The boat will take you to our beautiful island in only fifteen minutes. Once you have arrived on Texel, this is the way to our farm:

  • Off the boat, go straight on at the traffic lights,
  • Take a left at the first intersection after the roundabout,
  • Take the first left and go straight on at the intersection,/li>
  • 12 Hemmerkooi is the first farm on your right hand side.

While you are getting to know our rams and sheep on Texel, you can use the occasion to become acquainted with the many opportunities our island has to offer: get a breath of fresh air on the beach; cycle over meandering dikes, through flat polders and past unspoilt natural beauty. It's all possible on Texel!
