Welcome
to the website of our sheep farm 'The White Tesselaar'. This sheep rearing farm
belongs to the R.J. Witte family, Pontweg 101A (N501 6.8) near Den Burg on the
beautiful island Texel in the North West of the Netherlands.
Our farm covers 7 hectares of light sandy soil on which 61 pedigree sheep, 22
ewelambs and 4 breeding rams are kept.
We join 'Het Texelse Schapenstamboek in Noord-Holland'. The Texel Herdbook.
We started controlling 'zwoegerziekte' in 1980 and have received the title of
being free of 'zwoegerziekte' since 1983. Our farm also has the status of being
scrapie unsuspected.
We attempt to breed sheeps as functional as possible; one
that lambs easily, one that's very fertile, one that develops strong muscles
and legs. Our top littersize-index is 124.
